Description
Spain and France. 1881–1973. Ninety-One Years of Never Repeating Yourself.
Pablo Picasso was born in Málaga in 1881 and died in Mougins in 1973. In between, he produced more than twenty thousand works. He worked every day of his life. He said that inspiration existed, but it had to find you working.
He had his Blue Period and his Rose Period. He co-invented Cubism. He made Guernica. He designed theatre costumes for Diaghilev's Ballets Russes. He learned ceramics in his sixties and made thousands of pots. No other artist of the twentieth century matched his range. He did not find a style and repeat it. He kept looking for ways to see that he had not tried yet.
